How did you hear about the SCRC and when did you join?
Found SCRC on a google search. Joined Fairfax Chapter in 2006.

How long have you been riding?
Since 1970

Have you ever taken a motorcycle safety course?
Nope!

What was your first bike?
I bought a Honda SL100 in 1970. Two weeks later, the engine blew up.

How many bikes have you owned?
Four.

Why do you ride?
It's like skiing. I just can't explain it, but I do love it.

Have you ridden with an organized group before?
Yes, Fairfax Chapter.

What modifications have you done to your bike?
Well, let's see. Chromed the front end, various body parts (the bike, not me), and slapped a gel seat on it.

What accessories do you want to add to your bike?
have a parade cooling fan I'm planning to install soon, along with a horn relocation kit. Had some overheating in traffic last year.

What is your dream bike?
Oh man. It's the skull bike, built in Las Vegas.

What kind of riding do you like to do — straight-aways or twisties?
I love dem twisties. I bought the wide glide because it's big enough for me but still handles well.

If you have a nickname, how did you get it? Tell the truth!
My best riding buddy gave it to me. We both put snuffer nuts on our honda 450's. Man they were LOUD.

What is your favorite riding route?
George Washington National Park.

Do you ride your bike to work?
Nope.

What is the fastest you’ve ridden?
About 100. But at the time, I was scrapin' cases. (I used to race cafe racers...)

What is your favorite time of year to ride?
Fall. It's beautiful with all the Washington DC leaf colors.

Have you ever been down? If so, how were you hurt and what did you learn from the incident?
I had a stuck throttle cable and did a wheelie. That was bad. I ended up on my rear end going about 70. Good thing I was wearing jeans, gloves and boots. I learned to put the gas tank back on more carefully.

Have you ever done an "Iron Butt" ride?
No. My butt is much too delicate.

If not, what is the furthest you’ve ridden?
In one sitting, I've ridden about 4 hours. On one trip, about 400 miles each way.

What was the worst weather in which you’ve ridden?
Rain and sleet. Brrrr

Do you know how to work on your bike?
If it requires a 'special' tool, then it ain't my deal.

What is your favorite road song?
Don't have one. I prefer to listen to traffic noises and know what's going on around me.

What was your most adventurous ride?
I rode to Russian River and stayed there for a few days long ago. That was a very fun trip.

What rallies or events do you like to attend?
Don't do many rallies. Planning to do more this season.

Is there someone who rides "two-up" with you?
Not usually.

Off the cuff from...Snuffy
Alas... poor motorcycle. I knew him well.

He is but a languishing monument in my garage as I scramble to try to find brief moments to join him in joyous velocity this chilly time of year.
