Safety Tip from Throttle - Parade formation

Return to tip of the week

Do not ride in a parade style formation (side-by-side). Too many things can go wrong and cause you and the adjacent rider to go down. Each rider “owns” the entire width of the lane. Never encroach on that space.

Important note:  In January 2012, the Virginia House of Delegates voted to amend § 46.2-857, which legalizes motorcycles to ride "two abreast" in a lane designed for a single vehicle.  SCRC practices will not be revised to permit this activity in the riding activities of the club.
