Safety Tip from Throttle - Check those tires

Return to tip of the week

Check your tire pressure and the condition of your tires often. Proper air pressure on a motorcycle can dramatically change its handling characteristics. Look for cracking sidewalls and the wear bar indicators (for tread life). A tire with worn out tread poses two issues. 1) Lack of tread significantly reduces the tires ability to pump out water from under the tire in wet weather leading to a dangerous situation and 2) a tire with low tread (loss of center tread) has a squared off profile and can significantly change the handling characteristics of your motorcycle.
